Benefytt Investors Get Class Status in Deceptive Sales Suit

Benefytt Technologies Inc. investors can proceed as a class in their suit alleging the company misled them about deceptive sales, but with a shorter class period than they requested, a Florida federal judge said.

Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Fund and City of Birmingham Retirement and Relief System will serve as co-class representatives in the suit, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida said Aug. 28. Benefytt changed its name from Health Insurance Innovations Inc. in March.

The investors asked for a class period ending April 11, 2019. But “the most apt end date” is Feb. 18, 2019, ...
