Health Insurer HIIQ Must Face Investor Suit Alleging Shady Sales

Health Insurance Innovations Inc. is stuck facing a suit accusing it of misleading investors about deceptive sales of non-comprehensive health plans after a Florida federal district court refused to dismiss the complaint.

The investors sufficiently alleged that the company, also known as HIIQ, misrepresented its compliance issues and customer relationship problems, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida said Nov. 4. The court denied HIIQ’s motion to dismiss and ordered it to answer the would-be class complaint.
