Federal Mining Safety Regulation Moves Closer to Taking Effect

A final rule intended to protect miners from many types of surface transportation and equipment accidents is one step closer to release after the White House Office of Management and Budget completed its review Tuesday.

The rule from the US Mine Safety and Health Administration would require mine operators to establish a written safety program for mobile equipment, trucks, and other powered haulage equipment used at surface mines and outdoor areas of underground mines.
