California Baby ‘Natural’ Consumer Suit Advances

California Natural Living Inc. must continue to defend a proposed class suit alleging it deceptively markets “natural” personal care products that contain synthetic ingredients.

Pamela Suarez stated a viable claim that consumers would be fooled by the company’s descriptions of the products as “natural” or “naturally perfect for the whole family,” the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said.

Other companies have faced suits over “natural” products that allegedly contain synthetic ingredients. Jessica Alba’s Honest Co. agreed in 2017 to pay $7.35 million to resolve a consumer class suit alleging it deceptively marketed dozens of products ...
