Brew Dr. Kombucha Settles Labeling Suit Over Bacteria Count

Brew Dr. Kombucha LLC and an Idaho man have settled his lawsuit alleging the company overstates the amount of probiotic bacteria in its fermented tea drinks, according to a filing in federal court in Oregon.

Kombucha is made by adding bacteria to tea and allowing the mixture to ferment. Brew Dr. Kombucha’s drinks are sold in grocery and health food stores throughout the U.S.

Gunnar Amos alleged he relied on labeling statements that the Brew Dr. Kombucha drinks contained “billions” of “beneficial bacteria.”
