McGraw Hill LLC reached a deal to end a proposed class action claiming it shared data of its Sharpen app users with third parties without consumers’ consent.
Judge Jeannette A. Vargas dismissed the case without prejudice in an Oct. 17 order, after the parties notified the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on Oct. 14 that they’d resolved Maxwell Harwell’s claims in arbitration. Sharpen, a college study aid platform, requires account holders to share certain identifying information upon sign up.
