Landmark Data Privacy Bill Faces Pushback From GOP Leadership

House Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and ranking member Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) next week plan to formally introduce bipartisan legislation that would set a national data privacy standard and hold a full committee markup of the bill on June 27.

The pair had been working to improve a draft version that was unveiled in April, and committee staff released new text on Thursday evening, House aides told Bloomberg Government.
