Health-Care Administrator Data Breach Settlement Gets Initial OK

A $4.75 million settlement resolving allegations a health-care administrative services provider acted negligently by failing to guard customer data from a breach won preliminary approval by a Texas federal judge.

The deal, with CaptureRx and Rite Aid Hdqtrs. Corp., is sufficient to warrant to providing notice to the settlement class, Chief Judge Orlando L. Garcia wrote in an order filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Attorneys representing CaptureRx and Rite Aid didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
