Alphabet Inc.'s Google beat a lawsuit over a research project training artificial intelligence to predict future health-care needs, with a Seventh Circuit panel rejecting claims that the effort breached promises to keep patient records private.

A patient of the University of Chicago’s Medical Center whose hospital-stay records were included in the training data lacks legal standing to sue over privacy concerns because the information shared was stripped of identifying details, according to an opinion issued Tuesday by the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
