DirecTV Must Face Certified Class Alleging Unsolicited Calls

Cellphone users who allegedly received calls from DirecTV even though they were listed on the National Do Not Call Registry were granted class certification by a federal judge in West Virginia.

David Vance, Roxie Vance, and Carla Shultz alleged that the satellite TV provider retained AC1 Communications to sell its services. AC1 then purchased a list of phone numbers from a third party and used the list to make telemarketing calls, but didn’t scrub the list for numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry, in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, they said.
