BRG Ransomware Attack Produces Lawsuit From Sex Abuse Survivor

Berkeley Research Group LLC, the financial adviser for creditor committees in multiple religious order bankruptcies, was sued after admitting it was the victim of a ransomware attack.

Those creditor committees often included sexual assault victims, like the plaintiff bringing a proposed class action in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. He said he reasonably believed that his personal data would be safe, and that Berkeley’s failure to keep it so amounts to negligence.
