Amazon, Google Prod EU for Looser Data Protection Regulations

Tech titans including Meta Platforms Inc. and OpenAI Inc. are urging the European Commission to narrow the scope of some of the EU’s flagship data protection, competition, and AI rules.

In more than 500 comments filed by a Tuesday deadline, companies called on the 27-nation bloc to extend rule implementations and compliance deadlines and clarify definitions. They were offering comments in response to the commission’s proposals to simplify digital laws and cut red tape.
