7-Eleven Sued Again For Collecting Customers’ Biometric Data

7-Eleven Inc. was sued Friday by Illinois customers who claim that the convenience chain uses in-store cameras with facial recognition technology to collect and store their biometric data without their consent.

This is the second proposed class action suit that has been filed against 7-Eleven over its biometrics collection. The first was filed on April 25.

Unbeknownst to the average customer, many of the 336 7-Eleven stores in Illinois are outfitted with cameras and video surveillance equipment which have the capacity to collect biometric data, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District ...
