Customers whose personal information was exposed during genetic-testing firm 23andMe Holding Co.'s 2023 data breach can file claims to seek financial compensation as part of the company’s bankruptcy proceedings, according to an alert sent by the company Friday.
23andMe and its subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March after it was unable to find a buyer to rescue it from insolvency proceedings. The closely watched bankruptcy proceedings will also resolve a swath of legal issues the company faced following a 2023 data breach that exposed the sensitive data of about 7 million customers.
