Walmart to Pay $300,000 in Deaf Workers’ Disability Bias Suit

Walmart Inc. agreed to develop policies accommodating people with hearing disabilities and pay a combined $300,000 to resolve the US Equal Employment Commission’s bias claims brought on behalf of two deaf employees.

Marvin N. Montoya and Raymond C. Moore would each be paid $150,000 in non-monetary compensatory damages if the settlement is approved, according to the parties’ proposed consent decree filed Oct. 3 with the US District Court for the District of Kansas.
