Veolia Deal in Flint Water Case Gets Judge’s Initial Approval

A federal judge on Thursday preliminarily approved a $25 million class action settlement that environmental services company Veolia reached over its alleged role in the Flint water crisis.

Judge Judith E. Levy of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan gave her initial blessing during a remote hearing in the litigation, which has been ongoing since 2016. The deal, announced in February, adds to the growing pot of money designed to go to residents and business owners over the community’s exposure to toxic chemicals.
