Veolia’s Flint Deal Sends Cash to Kids Exposed to Lead

International environmental services company Veolia struck a deal avoiding a trial over the company’s role the Flint Water Crisis, adding $25 million to a growing pot of money for residents exposed to toxic chemicals in drinking water.

A class of roughly 45,000 Flint, Mich. residents will divvy up the cash, adding to more than $600 million the community has received from the state and other defendants for mismanagement of water resources in 2014 and 2015 that sent untreated water into area homes, corroding pipes and releasing lead into faucets and showers.
