Toyota, Drivers See Final Approval of Fuel Pump Settlement

Toyota Motor Corp. and drivers who alleged faulty fuel pumps could make their cars stall have finalized a class settlement that provides loaner vehicles, 15-year warranties on replaced parts, and reimbursement for repairs.

Magistrate Judge James R. Cho of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York granted final approval Tuesday.

  • Cho, who tentatively approved the deal in September, also granted the requested $28.5 million in fees for the plaintiffs’ attorneys
  • That amount is between 9.9% and 13.4% of the plaintiffs’ expert’s estimated total value of the settlement, which ranged from $212 million to $287 million. The ...
