Texas’ Top Court Refuses to Halt Gender-Affirming Care Ban

Texas can begin on Friday enforcing a law that denies transgender youths access to gender-affirming care.

The state’s supreme court, on Thursday, denied the plaintiffs’ request for emergency relief from an automatic stay that kicked in as soon as the Texas Attorney General’s Office appealed the lower court’s injunction.

The law bans minors from accessing, and doctors from prescribing, puberty-blocking drugs and hormone therapy to treat gender dysphoria, even when parents have sought out or consented to the care.
