Gender-affirming treatments will remain available to minors in Texas for now, but Missouri youths will be unable to access certain care going forward, following decisions by state trial courts.
The courts reached opposite conclusions on whether to block their respective states from barring minors from accessing puberty-blocking drugs and hormone-suppressing treatments when used for a person who suffers severe distress because their gender identity doesn’t line up with the sex they were assigned at birth.
The orders are preliminary, meaning that they’re in effect only until the courts enter final judgments. Twenty-one states currently have gender-affirming care bans for minors. ...
