Texas Election Law Ruling Allowing Challenges Won’t be Reheard

The entire US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit won’t reconsider a split panel’s decision that found standing for voters rights groups to challenge Texas’ robust 2021 election integrity law.

By a 9-8 vote, the judges opted Monday not to re-hear the case, leaving in place a December decision that held Secretary of State Jane Nelson (R) lacks immunity in more than a dozen provisions her office enforces, including new obligations for people delivering ballots or assisting voters.
