Texas was granted a preliminary injunction allowing it to keep buoys in the Rio Grande as a solution to undocumented immigrants crossing into the state from Mexico.
A district court previously said that the buoys had to be removed, and a panel of the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit affirmed. The full Fifth Circuit then granted an administrative stay pending an appeal. And in mid-January, the en banc Fifth Circuit agreed to rehear the case.
