A federal judge preliminarily approved a renewed $6 million class settlement proposal on Thursday in litigation alleging
The homeowners’ first bid for tentative approval was rejected in August. Judge Vince Chhabria of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said the plaintiffs didn’t adequately explain the relative strengths and weaknesses of their case or how they calculated the amounts of money allocated for the categories of relief.
The renewed proposal is “more than reasonable” and “a very good settlement,” Chhabria said during a Thursday hearing. ...
