Stalking Victims’ Suit Over Tile Tracker Tossed as Time-Barred

Tile Inc. successfully dismissed some allegations that failed to take steps to prevent its tracking devices’ use among stalkers after a federal judge held that two victims waited too long to sue.

Stephanie and Shannon Ireland-Gordy didn’t file their suit in the US District Court for the Northern District of California until “nearly seven years after their discovery of the Tile tracker” that Stephanie’s ex-girlfriend left in her truck, the court said. That time frame was far longer than the statutes of limitations in the Texas and California privacy laws they sued under.
