A female St. Louis police sergeant who says the department discriminated against her because of her sex failed to show “some objectively meaningful harm,” which should doom her case, the city told the US Supreme Court.
The officer argues that the Eighth Circuit got it wrong when it held that St. Louis wasn’t liable for sex bias because her forced transfer to another unit didn’t change her rank, pay, or responsibilities. But the appellate court correctly concluded that the transfer didn’t actually harm her, according to the brief St. Louis filed Wednesday.
