Samsung Evades SmartTag Danger Claims After Customer Drops Case

Samsung Electronics America Inc. no longer is facing an anonymous customer’s claim that the company’s SmartTag tracking devices don’t have enough safeguards to prevent stalkers from using them after she dropped her proposed class action in federal court.

Plaintiff Jane Doe filed a notice of voluntary dismissal Monday in the US District for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, a move that followed Judge Paul S. Diamond finding the company could arbitrate her claims because as a long-time customer she signed multiple arbitration agreements.
