Samsung Defeats Texas’ Bid to Halt TV Tech Following Court Error

Samsung Electronics America can continue to use technology that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) says allows it to unlawfully collect data on TV watchers, a judge ruled Friday.

Judge Benjamin N. Smith of the 380th district court denied Paxton’s application for a temporary restraining order during a hearing in Collin County, court records show.

The decision punctuates a whirlwind week in the case after Smith initially granted the restraining order on Monday only to quickly vacate it after discovering the matter had been set for the hearing.
