Samsung Judge Granted Paxton TV Spying Victory by Mistake

A judge’s order requiring Samsung Electronics America to stop using technology that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) says lets it unlawfully spy on TV watchers was entered by mistake and quickly corrected, for now allowing continued use of Samsung’s technology in Texas.

Judge Benjamin N. Smith of the 380th district court granted a temporary restraining order on Jan. 5 before discovering the matter had been set for a hearing, a member of his staff told Bloomberg Law on Thursday.
