Safe Streets’ $1.27 Million Wage Deal Gets Court’s Last Approval

Safe Streets USA LLC’s now $1.27 million settlement with a worker who said the company failed to pay overtime and reimburse expenses received final approval from a federal judge after an initial denial.

The new deal allocates 75% of civil penalties under California’s Private Attorneys General Act to a state agency after initially failing to do so, the US District Court for the Eastern District of California held Tuesday. The court had denied approval of the settlement in 2022 after finding the deal didn’t adequately allocate PAGA penalties, consider certain amounts already awarded in arbitration, and included impermissible expert fees. ...
