Safe Streets Worker’s Nearly $1.5 Million Wage Deal Rejected

Safe Streets USA LLC and a worker who says the company failed to pay proper overtime or reimburse expenses must revise their nearly $1.5 million settlement after a federal judge in California identified problems with the current version.

The court lacks jurisdiction to approve part of the deal because the Fair Labor Standards Act collective and state-law class claims it purportedly settles are moot, the US District Court for the Eastern District of California said. And an arbitrator already awarded the worker some of the attorneys’ fees and court costs requested as part of the settlement, the court added. ...
