R&L Carriers Defeats Trucker Bid for Wage Dispute Class Status

An R&L Carriers trucker who says the company violated California employment protections lost his bid to move forward as a class, but one group-style claim can go forward, a federal judge said.

The claims of the truck driver who filed the suit aren’t typical of the proposed class, and common questions of law and fact don’t predominate over individual ones, making class treatment inappropriate, the US District Court for the Central District of California said.

R&L Carriers Shared Services LLC and R&L Carriers Inc. convinced Judge Mark C. Scarsi to trim some of the federal claims in November 2022. ...
