R&L Carriers is free of allegations it violated federal minimum wage and overtime requirements, but truck drivers may move forward with other claims, a federal judge in California said.
The truckers’ minimum wage claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act aren’t “plausible,” and overtime claims based on the same law fail because of a motor carrier exemption, the US District Court for the Central District of California said. However, the workers may pursue certain state-law claims to the extent they’re premised on non-FLSA violations, the Monday order said.
