Prudential Defeats Web Wiretap Claim Over Insurance Quote Form

Prudential Financial Inc. defeated a California Invasion of Privacy Act claim over the use of TrustedForm, a ActiveProspect software, to collect medical and demographic information for the sake of a life insurance quote.

The plaintiffs failed to show that “ActiveProspect attempted to understand or decipher the contents of Plaintiffs’ communications on its webform while the communications were in transit,” Judge Charles R. Breyer, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Thursday, granting summary judgment.
