Procter & Gamble, Consumers Settle Benzene-in-Deodorant Suits

Procter & Gamble Co. has settled with consumers nationwide who allege it failed to disclose the presence of benzene in spray deodorants, resolving all the claims in the multidistrict suit, according to a filing in federal court in Ohio.

The litigation followed a November 2021 citizen petition by independent testing lab Valisure, asking the Food and Drug Administration to recall numerous spray antiperspirant and deodorant products found to contain elevated levels of benzene, a human carcinogen.
