A Texas midwife facing felony charges for performing unlawful abortions may get to re-open her medical clinics, a majority of justices on a state appeals court indicated during oral arguments Thursday, citing numerous defects with the injunction that closed them.
The temporary injunction entered by a trial court in March 2025 relied on little evidence that Maria Rojas terminated pregnancies in violation of the state’s abortion ban or provided medical care without a license, two of the three justices said.
