Omni Gets Worker’s $25 Million Pay Bias Win Shrunken to $300,000

A Dallas federal court jury awarded a former Omni Hotels & Resorts food and beverage director $25 million in punitive damages for her pay bias claims, but she’ll receive just $300,000 thanks to statutory maximums, the trial judge said.

Omni Hotels Management Corp. asked the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas to ax the worker’s win entirely because the initial jury verdict found no liability. But the jury’s second verdict, though “admittedly odd,” fixed the problems with the first and is backed by sufficient evidence, Judge Brantley Starr said.
