NY Judge Temporarily Extends Hold on Rikers Immigration Office

A Manhattan judge on Tuesday signaled that she may decide in the next week whether to indefinitely block New York Mayor Eric Adams’ (D) plan to open a federal immigration office on Rikers Island, as she extended her prohibition on the plan.

New York Supreme Court Justice Mary Rosado’s decision to briefly extend the current temporary restraining order came after a one-and-a-half hour hearing during which attorneys for the New York City Council and Adams’ office rehashed many of the same arguments they’ve made in court over the past month.
