NCAA Says Trial Court Ignored College Athlete Pay Case Precedent

The NCAA asked the Third Circuit to overturn a ruling that Division I student athletes are employees of the colleges and universities they attend, entitling them to pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ignored appeals court precedent when it ruled in favor of the student athletes pursuing the FLSA claims, the association told the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit Tuesday.
