The operator of Rivers Casino Des Plaines in Illinois convinced a federal court to dismiss most of a proposed class action over an August 2023 data breach that exposed the personal information of tens of thousands of employees and customers.
Out of six claims brought against Midwest Gaming & Entertainment LLC, only a negligence claim based partly on Illinois’ Personal Information Protection Act fully survived in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois Monday.
The court also ruled that one of the plaintiffs may proceed with her Illinois Consumer Fraud Act claim.
