Midwest Gaming Hit With Class Action Over August Data Breach

Midwest Gaming & Entertainment LLC failed to protect the personal information of tens of thousands of people that was exposed in an August data breach, a proposed federal class action said.

Donald Hess alleged that Midwest Gaming, which operates the Rivers Casino in Chicago, failed to properly encrypt sensitive data, monitor its network, or implement adequate data-security measures.

Information exposed in the breach included names, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, driver’s licenses, government identification numbers, financial account numbers, tax identification numbers, passport numbers, and Social Security numbers, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court ...
