Michigan Fights Disney’s Efforts to Parse Unclaimed Payments Law

An attorney for Michigan’s treasurer urged the state Supreme Court on Thursday for more time to conduct probes into companies that may owe unclaimed payments and to rule against arguments to the contrary put forth by Walt Disney Co.

Because of a state Court of Appeals decision from last year, nothing short of a lawsuit can extend the 10-year time limit the state has to seek property under unclaimed payments.
