Marilyn Mosby Prosecutors Tied Fraud to Maryland, Judge Explains

Former Baltimore state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby now has a written opinion denying her bid for acquittal on a single count of making false statements on a loan application.

Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby had already denied Mosby’s acquittal motion, ruling from the bench on Feb. 16. The judge’s opinion explaining her reasoning in more detail was filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.

Mosby’s motion—filed after the close of the prosecution’s case in chief last month—argued that the government failed to tie any of the alleged false statements to the prosecutors’ chosen venue. She also ...
