Male Teacher and Kansas City, Kansas, Archdiocese End Bias Suit

Sept. 23, 2025, 5:40 PM UTC

A former Catholic school teacher and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas, agreed to close litigation alleging he faced anti-male bias that triggered his anxiety and depression.

The parties said Monday that they wanted to dismiss the case with prejudice, two months after they notified the US District Court for the District of Kansas that they reached a settlement. Michael Pateidl sued two Catholic schools and the Archdiocese in Sept. 2024, saying he was subjected to disparate treatment, retaliation, and a hostile work environment in violation of Title VII and the Americans With Disabilities Act.
