L’Oréal, Consumers Settle Claims Over Keratin Hair Products

Consumers alleging L’Oréal USA Inc. and Matrix Essentials LLC deceptively represented that certain hair products contained the protective protein keratin have settled individual claims, according to a New York federal court filing.

Brandi Price and Christine Chadwick alleged they overpaid for Matrix Biolage Keratindose Pro-Keratin+ Silk Shampoo and other products.

In 2018, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York certified New York and California classes, but last year it decertified them, saying the plaintiffs failed to show classwide damages consistent with their deception theory.
