Law firm virtual staffing and marketing service Legal Soft Inc. settled the claims of a former chief of staff, who said she was fired in retaliation for speaking up about allegedly illegal labor practices.
Sanaz Rafailzadeh alleged in a 2024 lawsuit in California Superior Court, Los Angeles County that she was fired after telling her supervisor the company was illegally misclassifying workers as independent contractors and dodging payroll taxes using techniques like diverting wages as “loans” or “allowances.” The Wednesday settlement notice didn’t provide any terms but said a request for dismissal will be filed by Sept. 15.
