Lee Enterprises Reaches $9.5 Million Deal in Video-Privacy Suit

Local-news publisher Lee Enterprises Inc. would pay $9.5 million under a proposed deal filed in federal court to settle allegations it improperly shared the video-viewing information of subscribers with Meta Platforms Inc.

The settlement over Video Privacy Protection Act allegations appears to be one of the largest yet reached amidst a wave of lawsuits that began in 2022 against providers of video content over their use of consumer-tracking technology on their websites.
