Judges of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois have appointed Andrew Boutros to continue as Chicago’s top federal prosecutor, according to a general order dated Thursday.
Boutros was appointed by the Trump administration on an interim basis and took office in April. His appointment was set to expire in early August.
Thursday’s order installing him as US Attorney is effective Aug. 5.
The judges’ blessing in Illinois comes as the Trump administration battles with judges in New Jersey over his pick for US Attorney there, Alina Habba.
