Chicago’s new US Attorney has no plans to de-emphasize prosecution of public corruption and financial crimes in light of directives from Washington to prioritize violence, drug cartels and immigration, he told reporters Tuesday.
“Just because we’re talking about areas of priority, it does not mean – I want to repeat, it does not mean – we’re going to shutter or, you know, scale back on the other program areas that are important,” Andrew Boutros said in a roundtable interview.
Public corruption is a “bread and butter” area in the Northern District of Illinois, Boutros said.
