Judge Ponders Blocking Girardi’s Son-in-Law from Practicing Law

Indicted former Girardi Keese attorney David Lira will soon know whether the California Bar successfully convinced a judge that Lira represents a threat to the public and shouldn’t be allowed to practice law for now.

State Bar Court Judge Phong Wang heard arguments on Tuesday and will decide whether Lira should be placed on involuntary inactive status before a hearing on the merits of bar charges against him. Separately, Lira has pleaded not guilty to an indictment in Illinois alleging he, Tom Girardi, and former Girardi Keese chief financial officer Christopher Kamon stole millions of dollars in client settlement funds. ...
