The settlement was approved Wednesday by Judge Jennifer L. Rochon of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Six workers sued the company in 2023, claiming they were entitled to prevailing wages and supplemental benefits under contracts Johnson Controls entered into with public entities in New York. But the company allegedly paid the plaintiffs the same hourly rate whether they worked at public or private sites.
